Well...I very much enjoyed Setterfield's "The Thirteenth Tale" - it's one you just can't put down. Sad to say, and despite (or maybe because of) my high expectations, Bellman disappointed. I just didn't get it. It's well-written and very atmospheric, but like other reviewers, I grew weary of reading how well Will was doing...I still don't know exactly what or who Black was...or the nature of their deal...the rook passages were quite interesting...overall, only a 3 star for me, and that's stretching it. Probably wouldn't have finished it at all, had it not been for my regard of "Thirteenth."
