another "eh" for me. i read the other reviews and must be missing something. perhaps it's because i haven't read ms. stevens' first novel and therefore have no background to explain the character of vanessa michael munroe. many readers have compared munroe to lisbeth salander, but for me, not even close. i found munroe to be cartoonish and WAY too perfect. and the writing...i think stevens assumes we've all read the first novel. for example, the first chapter(s) consist of an old friend wondering how he is going to get munroe to come back to the States to help him...the implication being it will be very difficult...and when he finally asks her, she agrees w/o hesitation?! really??
