i very much enjoy the police procedural...in fact, it'd be safe to say they are probably my favorite books. i try hard not to read one after the other. however, the ending of sidetracked packed such a wallop that was creepy, outrageous (in a good way) and sad all at the same time, and i don't think i could read another mankell/wallander book right away if i wanted to. kurt wallander is a great character; he's all too human...making mistakes, embarrassing himself...he's not perfect, he doesn't even have super human abilities like some detectives. but he's dogged and clever and am guessing always gets his man, although he's probably rarely happy about it. sign me up for the entire wallander series.
